Siendo un fan de los blindados soviéticos de la Guerra Fría, las hordas árabes del 'Fate of a Nation' enseguida captaron mi atención (vale, las preciosas miniaturas de Battlefront tuvieron algo que ver). Aunque creo que el libro está algo descompensado en favor de los israelíes, la oportunidad de alinear una fuerza considerable de la Guerra Fría era demasiado buena para dejarla escapar. As a Soviet Cold War hardware fan, the UAR hordes from 'Fate of a Nation' quickly caugh my eye (the beautifully crafted Battlefront's T-55 played a crucial role too). Albeit I think the book is slightly unbalanced, with the Arabs on the receiving end, the opportunity to field a sizable Cold War force was too good to let it go to waste. So I tricked some of my friends into it and let them play the powerful (and affordable) Israelis.

Chendo ha elegido una Compañía mecanizada compacta y con mucha potencia de fuego, que puede alcanzar los 8 Pelotones gracias al Kampfgruppe. Con humo, Recon y una buena cantidad de medios AT y antipersonal, esta lista dispone de todo lo necesario para defender el Atkantikwall... y para encabezar un contraataque sobre la cabeza de playa aliada. 

Chendo is going to field a compact and versatile mechanised Panzergrenadier Company with lots of firepower, that can grow to 8 Platoons through the Kampfgruppe national rule. Provided with Smoke, Recon and a good amount of AT and Anti-Personnel assets, this list has everything it needs to defend the Atkantikwall ... and to spearhead a counterattack on the Allied beachhead given the case.

Para nuestra Campaña de St-Lô he escogido una variante de la Task Force A de la Liga. Rápida y agresiva, su efectividad se reduce considerablemente frente a infantería atrincherada. Por esa razón, su amplia dotación de medios de reconocimiento tienen que ser capaces de minimizar las emboscadas enemigas. No es especialmente contundente en asaltos, pero cuenta con una gran potencia de fuego para preparar la acción de sus dos pelotones de infantería.

For our St-Lô Campaign I have chosen a downsized variant of the Task Force A list I have battle-tested in our Walküre League. Fast and aggressive, its performance can be greatly reduced against stubborn infantry in prepared positions. Due to this, I bolstered their Recon assets to deal with enemy ambushes. Not particularly strong in assaults, it still has plenty of firepower to prepare the ground for the Poor Bloody Infantry.

The approach to St-Lô: June 1944

Con la I Liga Walküre a punto de terminar, es hora de planificar nuestra siguiente Campaña. Dejaremos atrás el crudo invierno de las llanuras ucranianas y nos trasladaremos a Normandía, en el día D+3 para escenificar el avance americano hacia la estratégica localidad de St-Lô. La operación se estructurará en dos campañas 'Axis of Attack' simultáneas:

• La primera: 'A través del Valle del Aure', tendrá como objetivo asegurar el pueblo de Couvains, a 5 millas al noreste de St-Lô de cara a la próxima ofensiva sobre la ciudad.

• La segunda: 'El avance hacia el bosque de Cerisy', buscará desalojar a las unidades alemanas del estratégico terreno elevado del bosque de Cerisy y asegurar así la cabeza de playa aliada frente a posibles contraataques.

Los jugadores, 3 americanos y 3 alemanes, disputarán un máximo de 6 partidas (2 cada uno) en cada uno de los escenarios para decidir el resultado final.

With our I Walküre League almost over, and the winner yet to be decided, it is time to unfold our next Campaign. We will leave behind the harsh Ukrainian winter and move to the rainy Normandy on D-Day+3 to join the American advance towards the strategic town of St-Lô. The approach will be covered in two simultaneous 'Axis of Attack' Campaigns:

• The first one: 'Across the Aure Valley', will aim to seize the village of Couvains, 5 miles northeast of St-Lô for the forthcoming offensive on the city.

• The second one: 'The advance to Cerisy Forest', will see the G.I.s trying to oust the German units from the strategic high ground at Cerisy Forest in order to secure the Allied bridgehead.

The players, three Americans and three Germans will play up to 6 games (2 each) per scenario to decide the outcome.

Building the Ausbildungs - Part 1 - HQ Panthers!
