Tras su buen comportamiento en la primera vuelta, he decidido repetir lista alemana con algunos cambios. Los Hummel no me han dado el resultado que esperaba, así que he vuelto a la combinación de AT directo, con los FlaK 36, y otra fuente de humo y pineo barato, con los NW 41. Por primera vez voy a incluir un par de francotiradores en la lista cuya misión será tanto ofensiva como defensiva, contribuyendo a desorganizar las líneas enemigas.

After its good performance in the first row, I decided to field my Feldherrnhalle again with some changes. The Hummel Battery did not give me the results I expected, so I bolstered my AT assets with a FlaK 36 Battery, and added another cheap source of smoke, the NW 41. For the first time I am including a couple of snipers, in charge of wreaking havoc on enemy lines.

Esta es la Compañía con la que jugaré en la primera edición de nuestra Liga Walküre local, una revisión de aquella con la que jugué la Campaña de Korsun, y que me dio excelentes resultados. Como no me apetecía seguir empleando otra vez la misma lista he hecho algunos cambios manteniendo el esqueleto básico. Para empezar, decidí incluir tropas únicamente de la División, con lo que los FlaK de la Luftwaffe y los Nebelwerfer tenían que salir. Para compensar la pérdida de AT, sustituí los morteros pesados por Hummel, que al ser vehículos blindados pueden bombardear estando suprimidos, y en caso de ser necesario, efectuar tiro directo sobre posiciones enemigas. Los puntos restantes los invertí en el Heavy Platoon, añadiendo una sección de MG-42. Esto me permite una flexibilidad mucho mayor, desde incluir de inicio los morteros en misiones con reservas para tener una plantilla de humo y pineo barato (liberando así a los Hummel), hasta potenciar al máximo las peanas de los Combat Platoons cuando tenga que atacar.

This is the Company I will play in the 1st edition of our local Walküre League. A little variation, though, from the list I played in the Korsun pocket Campaign, which performed remarkably well. As I did not want to field the same list again, I made some changes keeping the basic structure. To begin with, I decided to include only troops from the Division, thus the Luftwaffe FlaK and Nebelwerfer had to be removed. To compensate for the loss of AT, I replaced the heavy mortar Platoon by Hummels, that can make bombardments even suppressed, and if necessary, conduct direct fire on enemy positions. I invested the remaining points in the Heavy Platoon, adding a MG-42 section. This grants me greater flexibility, attaching mortars in missions with Reserves to have a cheap artillery template from the beginning (so freeing the Hummels) or bolstering the Combat Platoons when attacking.

Pochapyntsi es una aldea situada justo al sur de la Colina 239, rodeada de tierras de cultivo, y bosques. Tras el fallido ataque de los Fallschirmjäger sobre la colina, elementos de la División 'Feldherrnhalle' ocupan el pueblo de forma precaria, apantallando el flanco izquierdo para dar tiempo a sus camaradas de evacuar la bolsa al norte de su posición, atravesando la Colina. Los heridos tendrán que quedarse atrás. Mientras tanto, Konev ha retirado a los paracaidistas británicos del frente y los ha sustituido apresuradamente por tropas de la 41 División de Infantería de la Guardia. The 'close' Objective

Pochapyntsi is a village located just south of Hill 239, surrounded by farmland and forests. After the failed Fallschirmjäger attack on the Hill, elements of the 'Feldherrnhalle' Division thinly held the village, screening the left flank, gaining time for their comrades to evacuate the pocket north of their position, passing through the Hill. Lots of wounded will be hopelessly left behind. Meanwhile, Konev has withdrawn the British paratroopers from the front, hastily replacing them by troops from the 41st Guards Rifle Division. After knowing the Germans has begun evacuation, he gives the order to crush the pocket with all available troops.

The 'close' Objective

Novo Buda es una pequeña villa situada al sur de Shanderovka, y rodeada de tierras de cultivo, colinas bajas, pequeños bosquecillos y la presencia ocasional de alguna balka, o pequeño barranco. La misión de los Panzergrenadier de la División 'Feldherrnhalle' es apoderarse del pueblo, de noche, para expandir la bolsa hacia el suroeste a fin de despejar una zona favorable para concentrar las tropas y romper el cerco. Si los soviéticos consiguen la victoria, el elemento sorpresa se perderá, así como la iniciativa; en caso contrario, los Panzergrenadiers asegurarán una base para seguir ganando terreno.

The 'far' Objective

Novo Buda is a small village south of Shanderovka, and surrounded by farmland, rolling hills, small forests and scattered balkas (gullies). The mission of Füsiler-Regiment 'Feldherrnhalle' is seizing the town in a night atttack to expand the southwestern perimeter of the pocket in order to reach a favorable jump-off line for the breakout. If the Red Army claims the victory, the element of surprise will be lost, and so the initiative; otherwise, the Panzergrenadiers secure a foothold to keep on gaining ground.

El área al sur de Smella es una llanura abierta cruzada de Norte a Sur por el arroyo Sukhoy Tasklyk, con granjas dispersas, colinas suaves, bosques y caminos de tierra. Tras el fracaso de la ofensiva, los Panzergrenadier de la División 'Feldherrnhalle' son los encargados de cubrir la retirada de las maltrechas tropas alemanas ante la inminencia de un contraataque encabezado por los nuevos IS-2. Si los soviéticos consiguen la victoria, la retirada alemana se convertirá en una desbandada; en caso contrario, los Panzergrenadiers ganarán un tiempo precioso para reposicionarse en nuevas posiciones defensivas.

The area south of Smella is an open plain crossed from north to south by Sukhoy Tasklyk, a narrow stream, with scattered farms, gentle hills, forests and dirt roads. After the failure of German offensive in Smella, Panzergrenadiers from 'Feldherrnhalle' Division have been tasked to cover the German withdrawal under the imminence of a furious Soviet counterattack spearheaded by the new IS-2 tanks. If Soviets grasp victory, German retreat will turn into a rout; otherwise, the stubborn Panzergrenadiers will gain precious time for the rest of XLII Korps to build new defensive positions.

A la hora de desplegar, hice algunos Combat Attachments del Heavy Platoon: 1x HMG al 1. Zug y los 2x GW 34 al 2. Zug. Estos dos pelotones llevarán a cabo la tarea de mantener la línea, reforzados con los equipos Panzerfaust del HQ. Teniendo en cuenta que la artillería soviética iba a empezar en posiciones preparadas elegí mi pelotón de morteros de 12 cm para hacer fuego de contrabatería. Dos Nashorn supervivientes del 525. sPzJAbt se ocultarán en una colina boscosa, en espera de los tanques soviéticos. In order to deploy, I made some combat attachments from the Heavy Platoon: 1x HMG to 1. Zug and 2x GW 34 to 2. Zug. These two Platoons will hold the line, reinforced with the HQ Panzerfaust teams. Taking into account that Soviet Artillery would begin game in Prepared Positions I chose my 12cm Mortar Platoon to make some counterbattery fire. Two surviving Nashorns from 525. sPzJAbt will hide in a wooded hill, waiting for the Soviet tanks to appear. Finally, The Pak 40 Platoon will remain in Ambush, hoping to get some nice side shots on the Soviet behemoths.

Tras el éxito de los Kampfgruppen ad hoc (como el famoso Kampfgruppe Bäke) en las batallas defensivas que se sucedieron durante la ofensiva de Bagration, Hitler decidió crear unidades permanentes, más pequeñas y flexibles que las Panzerdivisionen para combatir las puntas de lanza acorazadas aliadas, esperando exportar la exitosa experiencia del Ostfront al frente occidental. Así nacieron las Panzerbrigaden, inicialmente del tamaño de un regimiento, con un Panzer-Abteilung y un Panzergrenadier-Bataillon. En las Panzerbrigaden 105-110 la 4. Kompanie del batallón Panzer estaba constituida por los nuevos y prometedores Panzer IV/70(V), con 11 ejemplares, armados con el poderoso PaK 42 del Panther (cañón, por cierto, que fue diseñado para equipar al Tiger I).

Following the success of the ad-hoc Kampfgruppen (like the famous Kampfgruppe Bäke) in the defensive battles after Bagration offensive, Hitler decided to create permanent formations, smaller and more flexible than Panzerdivisionen to face Allied armoured spearheads, expecting to export the successful experience from the Eastern Front to the West. Thus Panzerbrigaden were born, initially the size of a Regiment, that is: a Panzer-Abteilung and a Panzergrenadier-Bataillon. In Panzerbrigaden 105-110 the 4. Panzer Kompanie housed the new and promising Panzer IV/70 (V), -11 units- armed with the powerful PaK 42 the same as Panther (designed to equip the Tiger I).

A falta de un mes para el inicio de nuestra primera campaña, he decidido ir presentando poco a poco a los valerosos combatientes que lideraré en el campo de batalla, y qué mejor para empezar que el grupo de mando de la 1. Kompanie de la 60. PzGren-Div 'Feldherrnhalle'.

Our first campaign is starting in a month's time!, so I decided to introduce piecemeal the brave fighters I will lead on the battlefield, starting with the command group of the 1. Kompanie of 60. PzGren-Div 'Feldherrnhalle'.

Todos Los modelos son de Battlefront; las figuras, concretamente, pertenecen a la caja de la SS Panzergrenadierkompanie. Aunque la compañía a la que representan no es SS, escogí las miniaturas porque llevaban uniformes de camuflaje, a diferencia de los Grenadier, que visten el tradicional Feldgrau. A la hora de pintarlos utilicé el clásico esquema 'Splittermuster 31' (Splinter 31), empleado durante todo el conflicto y muy común entre las unidades del Heer y la Luftwaffe.

All models are Battlefront's; specifically, the figures belong to BF's SS Panzergrenadierkompanie box. Although the company they represent is not SS, I chose the miniatures because they were modelled wearing camouflage uniforms, unlike Grenadiers, who are fashioned in the traditional Feldgrau uniforms instead. I applied the classic 'Splittermuster 31' (Splinter 31) camo pattern, widely used throughout the conflict in Heer and Luftwaffe units.
