December 24, 1944; 2. Panzerdivision, the most powerful Heeres Panzer Division at that time stopped out of fuel less than 5 Km short of the vital Meuse crossings, in the last gasps of 'Wacht am Rhein', the German offensive in the Ardennes. Leading the advance were Kampfgruppen Von Böhm and Cochenhausen, with their northern flank screened by Kampfgrupe Gutmann. Heavily engaged with British units, they were soon cut off by elements from 2nd U.S. A.D. Without delay, Von Lauchert mustered another Kampfgruppe, commanded by the Divisional PzJäg-Abt 38.'s Hauptmann, Friedrich Holtmeyer, to launch a relief attack against the American troops to allow their companions' retreat.
The Company below is a Panzergrenadier-Kp from the last stages of the War, with a full load of Panzerfaust and AT guns. The high cost of its Combat Platoons makes this type of Companies rather unpopular with many players, but I think they have potential to be very competitive. Certainly I miss the armoured Recon and the snipers, but 16 Panzerfaust stands and 7 Anti-Tank guns (all of them Vets) are nothing to be trifled with!
