UAR Debabh Company (T-55)

Siendo un fan de los blindados soviéticos de la Guerra Fría, las hordas árabes del 'Fate of a Nation' enseguida captaron mi atención (vale, las preciosas miniaturas de Battlefront tuvieron algo que ver). Aunque creo que el libro está algo descompensado en favor de los israelíes, la oportunidad de alinear una fuerza considerable de la Guerra Fría era demasiado buena para dejarla escapar. Así que engañé a algunos amigos para entrar en ello, dejándoles a los poderosos (y asequibles) israelíes.

As a Soviet Cold War hardware fan, the UAR hordes from 'Fate of a Nation' quickly caugh my eye (the beautifully crafted Battlefront's T-55 played a crucial role too). Albeit I think the book is slightly unbalanced, with the Arabs on the receiving end, the opportunity to field a sizable Cold War force was too good to let it go to waste. So I tricked some of my friends into it and let them play the powerful (and affordable) Israelis.

La base del Batallón acorazado serán las dos Compañías obligatori construidas, el T-54/55 es el carro más popular de la Historiaa, y al ser tan barato, fiable y resistente, sigue en servicio en muchas partes del mundo. Para la Compañía usé un patrón de camuflaje sirio, pero es lo suficientemente genérico para que los carros puedan pasar sin problemas por egipcios o iraquíes (incluso afganos o paquistaníes llegado el caso).

The backbone of this Tank Battalion are the two compulsory Debabh Companies, fitted with the mighty T-55. With almost 100000 units built, the T-54/55 is the most popular tank ever; and they are still in sevice somewhere, cheap, reliable and hard. I used a Syrian camo pattern for this Company, but it's generic enough for the tanks to pose as Egyptian or Iraqi units (even Afghan or Pakistani given the case). 

Los T-55 son de Battlefront (a diferencia de la caja vietnamita, los modelos de Oriente Medio vienen con los depósitos de combustible traseros). Además de los desconchones y el envejecido de siempre, esta vez he empleado el efecto "Rust Streaks" de AK (esmalte), aplicado sobre las orugas y de forma dispersa en los cascos y las torretas, y debo decir que estoy encantado con el resultado (bueno, puede que haya hecho demasiados efectos, pero una vez que empiezas es fácil dejarse llevar).

The T-55 are from Battlefront (unlike the Vietnamese box, the Middle East one includes the rear fuel drums). Along with the chipping, and regular weathering, this time I used the "Rust Streaks" effect from AK (enamel based) applied on the tracks and scattered around the hulls and turrets, and I'm really pleased with the results (well, maybe I overdid a little, but once you start it's easy to get carried away!).
